What a Wacky Spring!

Here we are Mid-May, well into springtime and this is the first time I really feel like spring is here! It sure has been a challenge this year. Warm one day and snow the next. Windows open, windows closed, heat turned on and then back off again. Then if we get a really warm day – it’s time for the AC. And if you are an allergy sufferer – well let’s not even go there.
Anyway it is great smelling all of those wonderful spring scents: Flowers, Grass being cut, Food being grilled. I love felling the warmth of the sun on my skin, listening to the birds chirp, the sound of a gentle rain. There is the beauty of a rainbow, the butterflies dancing around open blooms, the morning dew – not to mention the sun is out a little longer each day!
If you’re like me, you want to spend as much time outside enjoying as much of this as possible. So why let springtime stop at the front door? Don’t leave it behind just because you came indoors or the weather is not cooperating today. That’s why springtime is just as good a time to burn scented candles as Fall or Winter!

Is Winter Over yet?

I know the days are starting to get longer, but as I look out the window it doesn’t seem as spring is any closer to getting here. No buds on the trees, grass a pale green, and there are certainly no Robins around. So I need some spring time cheer!

Flowers are nice and smell terrific, but they don’t last too long. I could use a spray air freshener – if you like that aerosol smell. That’s why I love soy wax candles. Soy wax is very clean burning, effectively dispersing your favorite scents and are surprisingly long-lasting. So lets consider some scents that will put us in a “springtime frame of mind“. Lilac is probably one of the most obvious and one of my favorites when they are in bloom. Some other options you can consider are Daffodil, Honeysuckle, Rose or Lavender. It’s amazing what a fresh scent can do to improve the mood around your home.

There are also some great Aromatherapy Candles you can use in your home that not only smell great but can help solve some issues that you maybe having. Thanksgiving is almost here and you know what that means – lots of cooking and baking. I don’t have any secret tips on cooking the perfect turkey, but I do know they smell wonderful (for a while). This holiday certainly has its share of wonderful food, which leads to all sorts of different smells filling your indoor airspace. So if you want to get fresher smell after cooking all that food – what should you do?

Well I recommend a good scented candle – soy wax is a good option because they are so clean burning and won’t anything else to the air inside your home. That leaves one problem to solve: What scent should I use?

First of all let’s cross off food scented candles – I love them but you will already have enough of the real thing! Next I would try to stay away from heavy floral smells like Lilac or Rose. Instead you want to look at lighter natural scents, especially citrus fruits.

Shorter Days

It’s been a couple days since we moved the clocks back 1 hour for the end of daylight savings time. That extra hour of sleep was great on Saturday night going into Sunday – but how’s it going now a few days later?

How are your body, mind and mood dealing with less light each day? There is something about the sun going down at 5:30 makes me sleepy by 7. I would love to end my day at 7, but that’s not going to happen!

So what’s my solution?

Facing a new week when you feel a low energy level

Sometimes your weekend is so busy that you get no rest or down time. Before you know it – it’s the start of a new week and your low energy level makes it look like the week will be a mountain climb. So what can you do to gain some more energy and make that mountain into a mole hill?

The obvious and go to answer – CAFFEINE! Coffee, Soda Pop, or other energy drinks. However this tends to be a short fix and then comes the crash. Plus the effects on your body – queasy feelings and nervous energy. So while I love a good cup of coffee, let’s take a look at another possibility.

Why not use your mind to influence the way your body feels. This is where an Aromatherapy Candle can really be useful. A candle? Yes – certain fragrances can influence the way your body responds. That is the way aromatherapy works. When you breathe in the aroma it triggers the area of the brain that controls moods and feelings.
